Our Founding Story

Unity and Hope Foundation was created by leaders passionate about public health, equitable access, and community development. The Foundation was established by individuals who witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by underserved communities in accessing basic healthcare, maternal services, mental health support, and emergency relief.

Motivated by lived experience, community engagement, and a commitment to health equity, the founders sought to build an organization that would not only provide services but also strengthen systems, empower families, and train the next generation of health workers.

Dr. Marcel Fomotar, Ph.D., DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Marcel Fomotar is a board-certified  Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in California. He holds a Ph.D. in Nursing degree, as well as a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. He specializes in the management of mental health illnesses that include but not limited to ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder,  depression, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia. He also sub-specializes in the management of addiction; Alcohol Use Disorder, Opioid Use Disorder, and Substance Use  Disorder.

Dr. Fomotar passionately advocates for healthcare equity and access, and is dedicated to helping minority and undeserved communities access healthcare services.

Dr. Nsah Bernard, MD, MPH, MSc., MBA

Dr. Nsah Bernard is a public health physician and digital health expert with over 13 years of experience spanning clinical care, health systems strengthening, and leadership in global health. He currently serves as Senior Manager for Infectious Diseases and Digital Health at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Cameroon, where he leads national efforts on malaria, TB, and digital health transformation. He also serves as Business Development Lead, overseeing donor engagement and resource mobilisation.


Bernard previously served as District Health Officer in Kumbo West during a period of conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic, where he played a pivotal role in coordinating essential health services and saving lives. He began his career as Chief Medical Officer at Awing Medicalized Health Center, delivering frontline care in a rural setting.


He holds an MD, an International MPH (Hebrew University), an MSc in Health Informatics (UCL), and an MBA (University of the People). A Chevening and Pears Foundation Scholar, he is also an IPPHL alumnus. His work focuses on advancing digital innovation, community-led health models, and youth leadership for resilient health systems.

Eddy Mayi 
Senior Systems Engineer, RHCSA, RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect

Eddy Mayi is a Senior Linux Engineer with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and a Certified Red Hat Engineer, recognized for his expertise in Linux systems administration, infrastructure management, automation, and enterprise-level security. Beyond his distinguished career in technology, he is the CEO of E & M Healthcare Services in Washington, D.C., where he channels his leadership into building systems that improve lives. Deeply rooted in technology yet driven by compassion, Eddy has always sought meaningful ways to give back. He views healthcare as a powerful avenue to create lasting impact, bridging innovation with humanity. His commitment extends far beyond professional boundaries: he has supported numerous charitable initiatives across Africa, helping undeserved communities gain access to education, technology, healthcare, and essential resources. Eddy’s dedication is visible in his work with orphanages, programs for the elderly, and local church initiatives, where he contributes his time, skills, and resources to uplift those in need. Passionate about using technology and leadership as tools for empowerment, he strives to strengthen systems, open opportunities, and ensure that communities often overlooked are given the chance to thrive.

Dr. Mpiki Alma M. Nkendong, MD, Pediatrician

After obtaining her doctor of Medicine from the faculty of medicine in Yaoundé, Cameroon in 2010, she worked for four years as a general practitioner in the rural areas of the Northern regions of Cameroon, before her passion for kids brought her back to the same faculty to specialize as a pediatrician. 

As a trained pediatrician since 2018, she is very particular about the wholistic management of children especially the young ones. Nutrition and vaccination particularly speaks to her calling, and the modern day risks of infectious diseases especially in adolescence is something that she counts on pursuing. 

She’s married, a mother of 4 and currently lives and works in Yaoundé

Dr. Divine S. Anye PhDAI, PhDT,  DSc., Digital Transformation Strategist

Dr. Divine Sufor Anye is a renowned Digital Transformation Strategist, Cybersecurity Expert, and passionate advocate for technological innovation and empowerment in Africa and globally. With a little over two decades of experience. Dr. Anye, equipped with three terminal degrees; Doctorate in Cybersecurity, PhD in Technology and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence is celebrated for his deep expertise in digital ecosystems, disruptive technology strategies, cybersecurity, and capacity-building initiatives.

Committed to empowering the next generation of African leaders and innovators, Dr. Anye regularly leads educational programs and workshops aimed at equipping youth and vulnerable communities across Africa, the United States, Afghanistan, Jamaica, and beyond with essential digital and entrepreneurial skills.

Dr. Anne Marthe Maison Balepna, MD, MSc., Radiation Oncologist

Dr Anne Maison is a dedicated radiation oncologist with over 10 years of working experience. She combines clinical expertise with a passion for teaching. Currently serving as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Douala, she specializes in palliative care and holds a post graduate diploma in palliative care as well as a Master's degree in Health Sciences. Dr. Anne Maison is chief of service at the radiation oncology unit at the Douala General Hospital and is committed to advancing patient care, improving oncology practice in Cameroon and educating future healthcare leaders.

Dr. KUM K. Walters, MD/MSc/MPH, Project Management Specialist, Technical Director of CBCHB's CDC/PEPFAR funded
HIV Free Project

Dr. KUM K. Walters, MD/MSc/MPH, is a public health expert specialized in project management and currently serves as Technical Director of the CDC/PEPFAR‑funded HIV Free Project at the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board. A graduate of the University of Yaoundé I, he practiced clinical medicine and led District Hospital Manjo as Director and District Medical Officer for nine years before advancing his expertise with diplomas and master’s degrees in HIV/AIDS management, epidemiology, vaccinology, and health systems organization through programs in with universities in Cameroon, France, and Benin. Since joining CBCHB in 2015, he has managed HIV programs across multiple regions and, since 2023, directs the HIV Free Project in Zone 1. He is married and a father of three.

Dr. Tim Fabrice Tientcheu 
MD, MSC (Global health with Global surgery), 
Gen. and Digestive Surgeon

Dr. Tim trained as a MD and General Surgeon at the University of Yaoundé I Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Cameroon, and holds an MSc in global health and global surgery from King’s College London. He also holds a professional masters in minimally invasive surgery from the University of Douala .

 

He is a currently consultant general and Digestive surgeon at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé, lecturing General surgery in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Bamenda. He has experience in delivering primary and emergency health care and managing public health projects in low-resource settings in Africa. Tim is global surgery lead with humanitarian NGO ASCOVIME, delivering humanitarian surgical care and coordinating the surgical simulation project.

He is passionate about global surgery , building surgical systems through National Surgical Obstetric Anesthesia Planning process and humanitarian health care and was WHO/KSLP international fellow to develop NSOAP for Sierra Leone. As a Humanitarian Surgery Innovation fellow for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Tim contributed to research on the efficacy of introducing digital innovations in ameliorating surgical training in low- and middle-income countries.

Dr. Raymond Ndikontar, MD, Paediatric Anaethetist-Intensivist

Dr. Raymond NDIKONTAR is a Cameroonian paediatric anaesthetist and intensivist, and a senior lecturer in the department of Anaesthesia and intensive Care at the University of Yaounde 1. He has a passion for contextualisation of care for low resource settings, which  has seen him engage in several panafrican projects such as the creation of the Paediatric Anaesthesia Society for Africa, as well as the Paediatric Anaesthesia Training in Africa (PATA) Program of which he is a faculty member. He dreams of playing a major role in improving emergency, critical and anaesthetic care for children in Cameroon, and in Africa at large.

Dr. Michele Maison-Fomotar, MD, MSc, Internist/Infectious Disease

Dr. Michele Maison-Fomotar  is a board-certified infectious disease physician whose life and career are driven by a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for underserved communities. Born and trained in Cameroon, she earned her medical degree from the University of Yaoundé I and a Master of Science in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her professional journey—from caring for patients in resource-limited settings to completing advanced medical training in the United States—has shaped a mission centered on equity, access, and dignity in healthcare. Dr. Maison-Fomotar’s work focuses on infectious diseases and HIV care, with particular attention to breaking down barriers to diagnosis and treatment for vulnerable populations.

Dr. Foma Munoh Kenne, MD, MPH, FACP
Consultant Hematologist & Oncologist | Chief of Thoracic Oncology | Global Health Advocate

Dr. Foma Munoh Kenne is a U.S.-trained and triple board certified internist, hematologist and oncologist with broad expertise in thoracic oncology, hematologic malignancies, immunotherapy, and sickle cell disease. He serves as Chief of Thoracic Oncology at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM, and Assistant Professor of Oncology at Richmond University Medical Center in New York. A visionary leader in global oncology, he founded the Cameroon Town Hall for Healthcare Professionals, a network connecting over 2,500 Cameroonian healthcare workers across 100+ countries. Dr. Munoh is a three-time Fellow of the Year, three- time resident of the year, former Chief Fellow and Resident, and a recipient of the Guardian Angel Award for excellence in patient care. He is widely published, with research featured in Cureus, Liver International, and the American Journal of Tropical Medicine, and has presented at ASCO, Women Deliver, and the International AIDS Conference. His clinical and academic interests include precision oncology, bone marrow transplantation, and global health system strengthening. Passionate about mentorship and diaspora-driven healthcare impact, Dr. Munoh continues to bridge the gap between innovation and access in cancer care.

Mrs Asheri M. Masse, CRNA, MBA

Certified Registered nurse Anesthetist, earned bachelor’s degree from Grambling State university, Master’s degree from Fairfield university and MBA from LSU Shreveport. 18 years experience as an anesthesia care provider with management of diverse populations for general surgery, ENT, Orthopedic, OBYGYN, vascular, cardiac and trauma. Prior to joining Guam radiology consultants, I helped set up a multidisciplinary ambulatory surgical clinic in Accra, Ghana. The first of its kind in Central-West Africa. Before moving to Ghana, I worked for various practices in Houston Texas, Norwalk Connecticut and New London Connecticut.

Dr. Agum Blasius Teghen, DNP, MSN Ed,  PMHNP-BC

Dr. Teghen Blasius Agum  is a certified and highly dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator with more than 10 years of experience as a clinical nurse educator with the Los Angeles Unified School District. He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama. 


As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Teghen specializes in the management of chronic mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. As a nurse educator, he is committed to preparing the next generation of nurses by emphasizing evidence-based practices that enhance patient safety, care quality, and overall outcomes. 
Dr. Teghen is passionate about initiatives that improve care for underserved populations, with particular focus on communities in Cameroon. With over 12 years of experience as an emergency room nurse, he is prepared to lead collaborative efforts with physicians and other healthcare professionals to establish and uphold high-quality hospital standards. He is dedicated to training nursing teams in protocols that are patient-centered, family-oriented, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

Ngum Braunhilda Attangeur; Regional Director, West Africa – Pawapay | Africa Expansion Consultant | Enterprise Architect (TOGAF) | ITIL Certified | PMI-Trained | Cisco Certified (CCIE)

Ngum Braunhilda Attangeur is a senior technology and fintech executive with over 15 years of leadership experience driving digital transformation, regulatory expansion, and operational governance across Sub-Saharan Africa. As Regional Director for West Africa at Pawapay, she oversees multi-country operations across more than 14 African markets, leading licensing, compliance alignment, telecom and banking partnerships, and structured regional growth.

She has successfully secured regulatory approvals in complex jurisdictions including the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone, negotiated high-level telecom and banking integrations, and implemented governance frameworks that strengthened compliance, reduced operational risk, and delivered sustained transaction growth across the region.

Her expertise spans enterprise architecture, mobile money ecosystems, and digital financial infrastructure. She led the design and deployment of an agritech wallet platform in Zimbabwe serving over 50,000 farmers across six farming seasons, integrating e-voucher systems with mobile payment solutions to advance financial inclusion and agricultural productivity.

Earlier in her career, she delivered large-scale biometric infrastructure programs in Cross River State, Nigeria, supporting over 3 million healthcare beneficiaries under a WHO- and World Bank-sponsored initiative aimed at eradicating malaria, reducing child and maternal mortality, and combating poverty. The program strengthened healthcare access, improved beneficiary identification systems, and enhanced transparency in public service delivery.

Braunhilda combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution—translating complex business and social impact requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing systems.

She brings disciplined governance, deep regulatory intelligence across African markets, digital infrastructure expertise, and the ability to design and implement scalable institutional frameworks. Her strength lies in aligning technology, compliance, and operational strategy to enable sustainable growth, transparency, and long-term impact in complex environments.

Dr. Venetta Mwengella, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, CFNIP

Dr. Venetta Mwengella is a double board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, healthcare innovator, and global health advocate committed to transforming the delivery of integrated care across the United States and Africa. With over 14 years of critical care nursing experience in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and over 8 years of advanced practice, Dr. Mwengella brings a rare depth of clinical expertise that bridges high-acuity medicine, functional medicine, primary care, and psychiatric mental health.


Since becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017 and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2021, Dr. Mwengella has specialized in treating both physical and psychiatric conditions through a comprehensive, whole-person approach. Her additional certification as a Certified Functional Nutrition Informed Professional (CFNIP) further strengthens her ability to address the intersection of nutrition, chronic disease, and mental wellness. Licensed in California, Maryland, and Georgia, she delivers evidence-based, patient-centered care with a focus on innovation, prevention, and long-term health outcomes.


Dr. Mwengella is the Founder and Owner of Primal Healthcare Systems, where she advances accessible, integrated healthcare solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of diverse populations. She is also the Founder and CEO of the Venetta Mwengella Foundation (VMF), established in 2021 to champion mental health awareness, youth empowerment, and equitable healthcare access. Through her foundation, she launched three signature advocacy programs: Checkup from the Neck Up, promoting proactive mental health screenings; Get High on Ambitions, Not Drugs, focused on preventing substance use among youth; and targeted initiatives addressing obesity bias and stigma in healthcare.


Born in Cameroon and having spent most of her clinical career in the United States, Dr. Mwengella brings a global perspective to healthcare leadership. Her foundation conducts impactful outreach initiatives across Africa and the U.S., providing education, resources, and support to underserved communities. As Global Secretary for Health for the United Panafrican Movement (UPAM), she collaborates with international stakeholders to strengthen public health advocacy and sustainable healthcare development throughout the African diaspora.


Through VMF and UPAM, Dr. Mwengella has impacted thousands of individuals across Africa and the United States, advancing mental health literacy, reducing stigma, and expanding access to affordable, innovative, and quality care. Her passion lies in serving vulnerable populations, particularly youth affected by substance use disorders and communities facing healthcare disparities.


A clinician, thought leader, speaker, and changemaker, Dr. Venetta Mwengella continues to shape the future of integrated healthcare by merging clinical excellence, advocacy, and global health innovation to uplift the world’s most underserved populations.

Mrs. Ruth Nchefor Williams, MA.PT, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Ruth Nchefor Williams is a dedicated healthcare professional and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with extensive clinical experience across multiple areas of healthcare delivery. She is known for providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-based mental health care to individuals across the lifespan.
Ruth earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands, where she developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care, rehabilitation, and holistic health treatment. She later advanced her clinical expertise in mental health by completing a Master’s degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the United States, preparing her to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of psychiatric conditions.


With years of experience in healthcare services, Ruth brings both clinical knowledge and genuine empathy to her work. She is recognized as a compassionate, energetic, and highly motivated provider who is deeply committed to improving mental health outcomes in the communities she serves.

Aloy Ojong Enow, MSN, RN

Aloy Ojong Enow is a Licensed Registered Nurse with more than 20 years of clinical experience specializing in behavioral health and geriatric care. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Leadership and Management from Post University.

With over 15 years of leadership experience, Aloy has successfully supervised teams of more than 60 staff members across diverse healthcare settings. He is skilled in team development, workflow coordination, and fostering collaborative, patient‑focused environments.

Aloy’s clinical background includes extensive hands‑on work in behavioral health and geriatrics, where he prioritizes patient‑centered and family‑oriented care. He is committed to evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and enhancing patient outcomes. He also holds an Infection Control Certification.

Driven, dedicated, and mission‑focused, Aloy brings strong leadership, proven clinical expertise, and a passion for improving community health in underserved communities around the world and especially in Africa.
